Battlefield: Spec Ops (shortened as Spec Ops) is an independent series in the Battlefield franchise. The series centers on a family with a military tradition, who spans ten generations from World War I to the League of Communists.

While each game features a new era, several are grouped into a "larger picture." The events of the first two games, America Under Siege and A Common Enemy occur in the span of four years (2020–2024). However, the third game, Spec Ops III serves as a background and introduces past events that lead up to the events of the first two games. Then, from the fourth to the sixth game, the story concentrates around William Descansa and a prophesied conspiracy. In the seventh game, an era of its own, concentrates on post-war conflicts.
